MobileMe is a new suite of web-based applications from Apple, compatible with their mobile devices.
Taking advantage of the new "cloud computing" trend, MobileMe keeps your information on an online server, keeping everything in sync. Intended as a replacement for Apple .mac, MobileMe offers 20 GB of online storage space for your email, calendar, contacts, photos, and more. Changes are automatically pushed up to the "cloud" and then down to your registered devices. A one-year subscription is included.
* Online Storage
Apple's iDisk service is your hard drive on the web. Offering 20 GB of storage space, you can use it for sharing, backup, and anywhere access. You can even make your files public, if you wish. If 20 GB isn't enough, additional storage space is available, too (sold separately through Apple).
* Synchronization
With all the devices many of us carry, managing your contacts can be a time-consuming operation. If one contact gets a new cell phone number, it needs to be changed in a half-dozen (or more) places. MobileMe recognizes the one-time change, and synchronizes (at least hourly, when you have a connection) any new changes.
* Me.com
Apple's me.com website is your desktop on the web. You can share documents and photos, change your calendar and contacts, and check your email. Me.com is an ad-free bundle of web applications, designed up to Apple's typical elegant standards.
